OUR COVID-19 INTERVENTION

Since the emergence of Covid-19 in Kenya we have been able to do the following activities with various groups of people and Partners with the main focus being to help relieve the impact caused by COVID -19.  Thanks to all who supported the cause, we are not yet done, since Corona is here with us, we need your support to come up with long term interventions that will help our communities be safe and manage the disease. Below are some of the interventions we came up with during this time. Help us reach more

DISTRIBUTION OF HAND WASHING CANS

We were able to distribute handwashing cans in all the nine Villages in Korogocho slums, with various community groups and organizations being tasks to oversee the day to day running of the handwashing points.

DISTRIBUTION OF 15,000 LITRES OF LIQUID SOAP

Since hand washing with soap remains one of the major interventions to curb the spread of Covid-19, we embarked on a mission to reach out to people in the slums of Mathare, Korogocho, Kibera and Mukuru Slums with more than 15,000 Litres of liquid soap, that was distributed where there was a hand washing spot meant for the public

CASH TRANSFERS TO MORE THAN 4.000 FAMILIES

Through our partners more so Give Direct International and friends of the organization, we were able to reach more than 4,000 families with USD 90. The USD 90 was shared in three months installment with USD 30 for each month. The good thing is that some people were able to start a small micro business for long term sustainability

FOOD DONATIONS TO MORE THAN 3,000 FAMILIES

Since the world came to a stand still a lot of people either lost their jobs, while others receive half or no salary. No matter the way things were life had to continue and we were able to reach more than 3,000 families with food hampers. The hamper consisted of basic food commodities that would take a family through for two or three weeks depending on the size of the family

DISTRIBUTION OF MORE THAN 4,000 FACEMASKS TO CHILDREN

FOOD VOUCHERS TO MORE THAN 1,000 FAMILIES

Since there was no clear cure for Covid-19, several preventive measures were put in place including putting a face mask which remained mandatory for every Kenyan Citizen, for slum people where we work with, it was hard for some to afford, so we had to intervene with a distribution of more than 4,000 face masks to children since they remained most vulnerable

Through partners and friends of the organiozation we had to reach people living in the slums with all means to ensure they are well and their needs are well taken care off, so for those that had special needs and whatever was in the food hamper would not favour them health wise we had to cme with Food Vouchers where they would go to the nearby grocery store or super market and get the food of their choice for the amount indicated in the voucher
