The United Nations Economic and Social council just granted us special consultative status! This means is that we are allowed opportunities to consult with Member States and the United Nations system. Slum Child Foundation is on the list of organizations the U.N. Council seeks out when they need expert information or advice in our area of expertise! This is quite an honor. We are proud to represent our children this way and have our concerns become part of the Council's agenda and for us to be present as observers at ECOSOC public meetings. This is a huge milestone for us!

Last year the Slum Child Foundation organized the Teens’ Forum, an event held on a yearly basis to enable students to discuss key issues such as school unrest and substance abuse and engage in dialogue with prominent speakers, including education and law professionals. The organizers saw the necessity to make this year’s event an interactive one, with a panel of invited guests who reacted to the many questions posed by the students. The event’s theme was “Stand Up, Speak Out, Be Heard” and it took place at Our Lady of Fatima Secondary School.
